On March 23rd, the 2022 Finnish Business Confidence Survey was launched jointly by the Finnish Business Councils in Beijing, Guangdong and Shanghai, and FinnCham in Hong Kong.

The event was opened by Hanna Osara from FBCS, and followed by greetings from Finnish Ambassador to China, Leena-Kaisa Mikkola.

Nordic Match Partner Tony Wang presented the survey results and key takeaways, which was followed by a panel discussion together with MO Group, Huhtamäki and Valio, to discuss the findings and reflect on the outlook for 2022.

The key takeaways from the survey show that Finnish companies remain optimistic about business opportunities in China. 70% of the +120 respondents in the survey expect growth in local revenue in 2022, up from 32% in 2020. The survey shows that Finnish companies have been able to adapt and respond to changing market conditions during the past years, clearly increasing the share of revenue generated from domestic clients in China. 68% of respondents will maintain or increase the level of investment in China, where common themes included response to growing demand, marketing, digitalization, and geographical footprint expansion.

While supply chain disruptions, logistics bottlenecks, the regulatory landscape and Covid continue to blur the predictability of the market conditions, Finnish companies are confident about China, driven by the large macro trends with growing consumption power and urbanization rate, and decarbonisation, creating immense opportunities for the years ahead.
